Definition of Essay
The definition of an essay is a short piece of writing that expresses information as well as the writer's feelings, thoughts and opinions about the nature of the topic.

Classifications of a good essay

1. Narrative Essays
A narrative essay is the one that tells a story. It talks about a particular event or a series of events and describes the kind of experience that the writer got from it. Examples of narrative essays.
  • Historical stories or legends.
  • Biographies.
  • Incidents ( marriages, festival etc).
  • An incidents or natural disaster (Earthquake).
  • Visits or journeys.
  • A story (real/imaginary).
2. Descriptive Essays
A descriptive essay is an essay in which a writer describes a person, place or subject. This can be accomplished through vivid language, examples,comparing and or contrasting or playing on a reader's senses. Examples of descriptive essays.
  • Animals, plants, buildings.
  • Towns, countries, buildings.
  • Aspects and phenomena of nature.
  • Man-made products (computers, mobile phones, cars, etc).
3. Reflective Essays
A reflective essay is an essay in which a writer contemplate a specific topic and share his/her thoughts with readers. It is usually has a personal tone and written in the first person. Examples of reflective essays.
  • Habits, qualities such as truthful, temperature, cowardice, heroism, patriotism, industry, etc.
  • Social, political and domestics topics such as riches, poverty, caste, democracy, liberty, government, family life, education, business, etc.
  • Philosophical subjects such as right and wrong, reality, the meaning of the universe, consciousness, etc.
  • Religious and theological topics etc.
4. Expository Essays
An expository essay explores various angles of a specific topic to provide information in an adjective manner to the reader. Examples of Expository essays.
  • Institutions, industries, occupations such as parliament, the press farming etc.
  • Scientific topics such as gravitation, evolution, astronomy, etc.
  • Literacy topic such as the nature of poetry, prose style, etc.
5. Imaginative Essays
An imaginative essay is an essay of short story in which the writer imagine a particular historical or fantastic situation and write the rest of the story of his/her thoughts.
